Minas Watch monitors public company layoff and M&A announcements and sends you a push notification — usually within a minute of the press release hitting the wire.
When a company files an 8-K with the SEC disclosing workforce reductions, or distributes a press release through PR Newswire, BusinessWire, or GlobeNewswire, Minas Watch picks it up and pushes an alert to your phone. The same pipeline catches mergers, acquisitions, and going-private deals.
HOW IT WORKS
The app scans three primary data sources continuously:
- SEC EDGAR 8-K filings: Full-text keyword search every 30 seconds for layoff and M&A language in material event disclosures.
- Wire services: PR Newswire, BusinessWire, and GlobeNewswire polled every 60 seconds for workforce reduction and deal announcements.
- WARN Act notices: Federal 60-day advance layoff notices checked every 6 hours.
Each alert includes the company name, ticker symbol, number of employees affected (when disclosed), workforce percentage, restructuring charges, and severity classification.
SEVERITY LEVELS
- CRITICAL: More than 10% of workforce or over $100M in charges
- HIGH: 5-10% of workforce
- MEDIUM: 1-5% of workforce
- LOW: WARN Act notice or small-scale reduction
